Campaign for Liberty Audit the Fed Bill Update

Sept. 14th 2009
Good news! We now have 287 cosponsors for the House version of Audit the Fed, HR 1207, The Federal Reserve Transparency Act, and 24 cosponsors for the Senate sister bill, S 604, The Federal Reserve Sunshine Act. It was just announced that Barney Frank will hold hearings on the Audit the Fed Bill in late September. However, now is the time we must push even harder as a grassroots movement. We need to get a majority of senators as cosponsors, and they must be told to have it voted on the floor as a standalone bill.
As you know, we will have a Mass Action Rally in 5 cities in NY on Tuesday, September 15th at 4PM as listed below, where we will deliver thousands of the petitions you collected to both Senator Gillibrand and Senator Schumer at each location. Be sure to join the fun and excitement of that day.
Melt the Switchboard
But there is something you can do now to build up momentum for this event. We can "Melt the Switchboard" of our senators' Washington offices by having a different NY patriot calling each senator every 5 minutes, so between now and Tuesday their staff will be well aware of the huge support for S 604.
It only takes 5 minutes of your time. Go to the link below and schedule a single time slot for Gillibrand and another for Schumer and be sure to call at the time you reserve. Tell them to "support Senator Bernie Sander's S 604, Federal Reserve Sunshine Act, because as a constituent you want transparency as Obama promised in his campaign." As a taxpayer, you want to know how the Federal Reserve gave trillions of your dollars to banks like Goldman Sachs, AIG, and foreign central banks.

Then pass the link along on your Facebook so others can call also.
We are winning, but we have not won yet, and now is the time to be pushing the hardest.

Audit the Fed Mass Action Rally
Then on Tuesday, September 15th, show up early at 3:45PM to one of the cities below to show a large support for Audit the Fed for local media to cover this event. Bring "Audit the Fed" or Campaign for Liberty signs and shirts and a camera to record it all. A handful of C4L members will then go in the offices to deliver the petitions and an information packet. The rallies will only be upwards of an hour, so be there early. We will start with Gillibrand between 4PM and 4:20PM and then Schumer between 4:30PM and 4:50PM. On the last Mass Action Day, we got 20% of the House to cosponsor. For this one, we want to bring the Senate count to over 51 cosponsors. With your endless lust for freedom, we can do this.

Fundraising to cover copying costs and other costs
Photocopying, sorting, and delivering 10 sets of petitions will be expensive (as well as entering all the petitions into a spreadsheet to send to C4L so they can print our petitions to deliver at the same time to the senators' DC offices.) It's expected to cost upwards of $2,000 (35-50K copies), and I can't cover it all. So to introduce the new NY C4L fundraising capabilities, there is a site for people to donate to a general fund to help cover these costs. Below is a link to donate to the NY General Fund. If you and your groups donate to help cover these costs, we can make this a successful event (and not send me, your humble state coordinator, to the poor house). So send in $10 or more to get our NY General Fund going, and any additional money will go toward providing your local groups with banners, literature, Constitutions, and other goodies you need to grow the movement.
